Gold Coast based Beachwave Pty Ltd is currently involved in many projects ranging from northern NSW to northern Queensland, and while heavily engaged in the building industry, the Company also looks at and assesses the development potential of many land sites and commercial ventures nationwide.

Mark’s background in the building industry is steel-based.  He began his career as a welder in Christchurch, New Zealand with Andrews & Beaven Pty Ltd, and then Hamilton Marine. As he progressed through his trade and completed his apprenticeship, he ventured more into the larger framework of steel-based building structures. When he migrated with his family in 1989 to Sydney, he took an avid interest in the workings and construction of the multiple high-rise buildings in the Sydney metro area that he worked on, and enjoyed the satisfaction of seeing the giant structures take shape.

He spent the next ten years working in New South Wales, established his own business and was involved in building and design work, and construction of various high-rise commercial and industrial buildings throughout the metropolitan area.

The beginning of the new millenium saw many changes for Mark in his personal life and career, and he began to look for more challenging and financially viable and rewarding career options. He undertook and completed studies in the Real Estate and Mortgage Broking Industries, and it was at this time that he began to feel the pull to move north to Queensland. His gradual move followed his keen interest in the Housing Industry where he learned how the markets worked, the areas of growth and sustainability, and the need for more affordable quality housing.

By 2005 he had established himself permanently on the Gold Coast where he met Greg Katterns with whom he established a partnership in the building company Beachwave Pty Ltd.

Projects Supervisor

Greg has been in the Building Industry in Queensland for 23+ years and is currently involved with the management and site supervision of works on building projects, ranging from single/duplex residential dwellings to multiple housing estate projects of twenty five or more dwellings, and located from the Sunshine Coast through to Brisbane and west to Ipswich, the Gold Coast and upper NSW region.

Greg is also a Registered Workplace Trainer and Assessor, and qualified TAFE teacher who has taught building and construction trade apprentices and building diploma students. Greg has been registered with Education Queensland  since 1989, and the Queensland College of Teachers - teaching subject levels IPP Junior/Senior School Certificate and teaching Technology Built Environment Skills to senior school students as per Building and Construction trades

His extensive knowledge of the building industry has been an ongoing commitment for Greg as he set himself the task of staying abreast of occupational health and safety and new building developments in the workplace. His diploma’s and workplace training certificates cover many aspects of the building code, including AutoCad, Applied Building Science, Architectural Drafting, Financial Management, Workplace Safety, BOC Gases program and other programs which help Greg to broaden his knowledge of the industry as a whole.
